Ohio’s Tomorrow Joins Ohio Biofuels Task Force led by Congresswoman Jean Schmidt
Today, Ohio’s Tomorrow participated in the first conference call of the recently created Ohio Biofuels Task Force. Formed and led by Congresswoman Jean Schmidt (OH-2), the group’s mission is to position Ohio as a leader in biofuels innovation and use. It brings together leaders from the major sectors with interest in biofuels: agriculture producers, fuel producers and distributors, consumer groups, auto and truck manufacturers, and public transportation organizations. The group consists of over thirty members, including Clean Fuels Ohio, the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, General Motors, Honda of America, Peter Cremer North America, and the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority.
“We commend Congresswoman Schmidt for taking the lead in the effort to make biofuels a greater part of our transportation fuel supply. This diverse group brings together the corporations and groups that can create the momentum necessary to change the way we fuel our vehicles,” said Jim Coleman, Executive Director of Ohio’s Tomorrow. “The best way to jump start the development and use of biofuels is to adopt a cap on greenhouse gas emissions. The potential benefits of biofuels in economic development and efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions offer great promise in creating a better tomorrow for all Ohioans.”
Ohio’s Tomorrow is a coalition dedicated to addressing climate change issues on the grassroots level. We work to educate individual citizens of economic opportunities that exist from efforts to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, the principal cause of climate change and global warming. Through market based solution to climate change, Ohio can create jobs, promote economic development, and ensure a healthy climate for future generations. Working across Ohio, we are advocating for low carbon advancements and identifying success stories where they are being utilized to lower harmful emissions while strengthening Ohio’s economy.
